Apple iPad Pro With M5 Chip May Feature Dual Front Cameras In 2025

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new iPad Pro featuring the M5 chip and a significant design update, including the introduction of dual front-facing cameras. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this enhancement will go beyond the typical hardware upgrades and slimmer bezels expected from the company’s next-generation tablet.

In his latest weekly newsletter, Gurman reveals that the upcoming iPad Pro will include a second front-facing camera positioned for portrait orientation. This addition is aimed at improving the user experience when unlocking the device vertically using Face ID. The tablet will automatically determine which camera to use based on its orientation sensors, rather than requiring the user to switch between them manually.

The current iPad Pro with the M4 chip features a single front-facing camera aligned for landscape use. That configuration was introduced to optimize Face ID functionality and video calling when the tablet is used horizontally. With two front cameras in the next iteration, Apple aims to deliver a seamless experience for both portrait and landscape orientations, adapting to user preferences without compromising convenience or security.

If Gurman’s predictions are accurate, the dual-camera system could be part of a broader strategy to enhance usability and functionality across different use cases, such as video conferencing, selfies, and biometric authentication.

Furthermore, this development challenges recent rumors suggesting that the iPad Pro with the M5 chip would not debut until 2026. Gurman asserts that Apple is planning to announce the device in October 2025. He also notes that internal testing of the new iPad Pro has been underway since March 2025.

As of now, Apple has not provided any official statements or launch details for the upcoming iPad Pro. However, the inclusion of dual front-facing cameras could mark a significant shift in Apple’s design approach for its tablet lineup, potentially setting a new standard for multitasking and user interaction on large-screen mobile devices.
